Arriving into Yellowknife make your way to your accommodation to relax. This evening meet your guide and fellow travelers at your welcome dinner. There is a maximum of 21 travelers on this departure.
This morning we experience traditional aboriginal way of life. We head out to Great Slave Lake to observe a traditional aboriginal ice fishing demonstration. We will then be welcomed into the lodge and enjoy a feast of freshly caught fish.
Before heading out to view the Aurora Borealis, we will have some time at leisure. At a set time, we will depart the city for our warm chambers to experience the Northern Lights. While on-site for the Northern Lights, we an enjoy hot drinks and late-night snacks.
We have put together an amazing city tour for you today! You will be guided through the city with your tour leader identifying points of interest. The tour includes a visit to the Prince of Wales Northern Heritage centre. Here you can learn about the Aboriginal and European history in the north.
The afternoon is yours to explore at your leisure. Perhaps visit a point of interest from earlier in the day or rest before the night viewing of the Northern Lights.
After dinner, you will again be transported to our warm chambers for viewing of the Aurora Borealis.
Have a hearty breakfast this morning, you have a full day of activities! This morning we head out for a traditional Dog Sledding experience. You will get to meet the northern dogs and then depart with a guide on a toboggan pulled by 12-14 dogs. Your guide will take you through the snowy and scenic landscape. Don't worry you will remain warm with blankets in your toboggan.
After experiencing the thrill of dog mushing we will take you snowmobiling - you are the driver! Learn the basic safety and operating instructions and then depart into the back country wilderness. We stop along the way and take photos of breathtaking scenery, and play on Yellowknife's pristine frozen lakes as you get to know the "wild side" of this country.
With a full day of activity, you have lots to share with your fellow travelers at your farewell dinner. Our last opportunity to view the Aurora Borealis is tonight and we will depart after dinner.
Depending on your flight time, enjoy breakfast at the hotel and depart for the airport. Our Yellowknife adventure has come to end, but we take home great memories, experiences and photos!
