Its Summer A Roadtrip In 2020 Is Possible And Amazing

A BC and Alberta Road Trip for the Summer of 2020!

The time is now to enjoy a local road trip and avoid the crowds.

The summer of 2020 is all about travelling locally, taking an RV, camping or a roadtrip. I (Rikki - owner of PTM) recently completed a roadtrip from BC to Alberta and back to BC to visit family and friends.

As I was taking this adventure solo, I planned in advance my itinerary with pre-booked and paid hotel reservations. This ensured I had somewhere to stay at each stop and minimized amount of contact required - social distancing protocols were complied with during this trip. My plan included stops in Kelowna, Canmore, Calgary, and Edmonton. Flooding on Hwy 1 added in an unexpected detour to beautiful Jasper.

Jasper was quiet as the international tourists have not yet arrived - its a great time to experience this destination. I could tell all precautions were in place regarding social distancing and cleanliness. My first hotel stay was at the Mt. Robson Inn. This stay was a pleasant surprise. The room was recently renovated and spotless. Breakfast is included in the rates and I was given an order form to complete make my meal selection. The next morning I collected my bagged breakfast at the time I had requested from the doorway of the breakfast room. It was excellent. Names and phone numbers were taken in the dining room for contact tracing.

Next stop the Malcolm Hotel in Canmore. Canmore was far from quiet. Hundreds of people are out enjoying the outdoors and biking trail between Banff and Canmore. The shops and restaurants are all open with precautions in place, it is being taken seriously. The Malcolm hotel was amazing! If you are headed out that way, let Personal Travel Management organise you a stay at this amazing property. It is within walking distance of town and has lots of hiking and biking at your doorstep. The restaurant is outstanding and the beds ensure you are dreaming all night! Here is a tip: a mountain view room is a must and the higher the floor the better.

At every stop I felt extremely welcome. The hotels are happy to open and in some cases the rates offered are very enticing. Not once during my 12 day journey did I feel out of my comfort zone or unsafe. Now is our opportunity to get out and enjoy our own country. With limited visitors in each destination, waiting lines almost nonexistent for places you will want to include in your itinerary. I know I will venture out at least once more this summer and take advantage of the reduction in international travellers. Its also a great time to show support of local businesses!
