Man says “We need to get away, where do you want to go?”
Women (our Travel Agent) says “Ummm, I don’t know surprise me!”
NEXT DAY – Man says “Pack your bags we are leaving.”
Women says “Where are we going?”
Man says “You wanted a surprise pack for Alaska and a beach!”
At the airport all the women knew was she was going to gate 21. While on the moving walkway she strained her eyes to see the destination on the airport automated sign. They went to Singapore and stayed at the world famous Raffles Hotel with a personal concierge outside their door. After 2 nights at Raffles Hotel they went from luxury to a rustic beach experience on Bintan Island. A 55 minute ferry transported them from big city life in Singapore to a remote Indonesian Island. WOW! Somehow I don’t think either of them will ever forget that trip!

Things to do Singapore:
- When staying at Raffles one has to go to “The Long Bar” home of the Singapore Sling! You get to throw peanut shells on the floor while paying $30 dollars for their iconic national drink which was created in 1915 by Raffles bartender Ngiam Tong Boon.
- Compare the luxury’s of old to new. The Marina Bay Sands hotel is the most Instagram posted hotel in the world. Its only minutes away from Raffles.
- Dinner on the Historical Boat Quay. Now a major nightlife spot full of restaurants this area was designated to the Chinese by Sir Stamford Raffles in 1819

- Visit the Senggarang fishing village on stilts
- Take a snorkel tour
- Enjoy the beach life
