My Bucket List Gorilla Trek

Of Ponies and Gorillas! Most people, including myself associate Uganda with gorilla trekking. And that is absolutely true – as I’ve now experienced – but there is so much more to this ‘Pearl of Africa’, as Winston Churchill called it. I arrived at Entebbe International Airport and was whisked away to a comfortable guesthouse, where I met up with the other travellers in my small group. After a good nights’ sleep we returned to the airport for our small plane transfer to Kihiihi, the closest town to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – home of the endangered Mountain Gorillas. The trek seemed da...

Whistler night walk with Vallea Lumina

Wise old growth trees and stardust bring Whistlers' Cougar Mountain to life. It is said that Leonard and Gloria set off looking for the Hidden Valley. They haven’t been seen since their departure. Last night my friends and I set off through the forest at Whistler’s Cougar Mountain to find this 'Hidden Valley' and report back any sightings of Leonard and Gloria. Along the 1.5km path we tested our Morse code skills to report back sightings and were entertained by beautiful music accompanied by spectacular light shows. A night time walk in the forest has never been so enchanting. This outdoor p...

Reflection on successful group tour

What an outstanding Group and an Incredible Trip to Africa in May 2018! Upon arrival into Arusha, we were met by Abby from Boutique Safaris and transferred to the Mount Meru Hotel for our 2 night stay. After a lovely breakfast we were up and at it, first stop, the Tanzanite Museum. Here we learned about this absolutely amazing gemstone. Second stop, Masai Market. Lots of purchases were made here as we strolled the rows of the markets admiring the wonderful trinkets. It was then time for a well deserved lunch - here in Africa, no one is in a rush! Our afternoon was at the Cradle of Love Orphan...

Quick check in after a successful tour!

We are all sitting now at Zanzibar airport waiting for the start of our flights. Everyone is sad that it has come to an end now. What an outstanding trip it was! My dad and Robyn had the best trip of their entire lives and dad did everything even getting a henna tatoo. He gave speeches and we all kept asking where the quiet Jim Murphy went! I have some speeches. People sang songs to the drivers We all laughed and cried and were scared by the lions roaring near our tents. We got bogged in the mud and had to be rescued which everyone loved. We lunched with lions, one day had breakfast with hi...

Barcelona - Spontaneous and Brilliant

My trip to Barcelona was definitely a last-minute decision. Earlier in the year, my mom had asked me if I wanted to go. Each spring, my auntie rents an apartment in Barcelona, and usually various members of the family come for couple weeks. My mom’s plan was to spend the last two weeks there and when she asked me if I would go, I had to say no, because I had a lot going on with work during that time, and plus the fares were a bit expensive. Then just a couple weeks before mom was set to depart, I came across an incredible offer from Air Canada! The offer was quite restrictive, but I checked ...
