Dalmatian Coast via Bike

By Janice Hague

Our Adventure Agent Janice recently returned from Croatia and was awestruck!

She participated in a guided tour cycling along the Dalmatian Coast. Here is a little about her experience!

I’ve been to many European countries, but none compare to the stunning beauty of the Dalmatian coast. I just returned from an Exodus Bike tour & still in awe reliving it. We cycled from Split to Dubrovnik along the Dalmatian islands of Hvar, Korcula, Mljet and the mainland vineyards of the Peljesac Peninsula.

We cycled for 5 days averaging 50km a day. Our cycling paths took us up and down spectacular hilly scenery. There was very little traffic as the routes were all hand picked by Exodus and their local guides. Our local guide and driver (of the support vehicle) were excellent. They kept us on schedule without making us feel rushed.

The quality hybrid bikes were included & were perfectly suited to the trip. This tour is the perfect opportunity for those uncertain of their biking ability. Some of my friends on the trip rented an E bike to help them conquer the hills. Each night we stayed at lovely small hotels that put out a fantastic buffet breakfast all fresh and grown locally.

Did you know Croatia has the cleanest drinking water in all of Europe? It was a treat to drink from the tap. Here in Croatia, you don’t see plastic water bottles & bags littering the streets. You also don’t see big box or chain stores here or anyone carrying a Starbucks cup. Everyone is sitting and enjoying a coffee in a mug watching the world go by at a relaxed pace.

Croatia is apart of the EU but still uses its local Kuna currency.
