Exploring Mexico City

By Janice Hague

Wow why did I wait so long to visit Mexico City. Seriously, what a fabulous city.

I see now why it’s been recently voted as the number 1 cultural city in the world.

I choose to fly Aeromexico to Costa Rica for Spring break with a 4-night layover in Mexico City.

Upon arrival at the airport, we used Uber which was very convenient and inexpensive.

We stayed near Alameda Central Park in the historic area, we felt very safe walking and exploring Alameda, La Condesa and the Roma districts.

Yes, like all big cities there are the tourist friendly safe areas & the areas to avoid. I was surprised at all the ex-pats living here enjoying the great weather and lower cost of living.

As you know I enjoy biking, so we booked two foodie bike tours one in the Roma & Condesa area & one in Frida Kahlo ,Coyacan neighbourhood.  Check out El Taco Club for the best bike tours.

It’s a great way to see and eat your way thru this massive flat city.

Mexico City has amazing, designated bike paths that meander thru the cities tree lined trees and parks.

If you cycle at home in the city, then you’ll enjoy riding here as well. The guides make sure your always on safe streets with very little traffic.

Our highlights besides the excellent street food were visiting the Pallas del Artes, National Museum of Anthropology & Frida Khala museum.

I look forward to visiting again.
